A method based on the ELISA principle for quantifying allergenic proteins in rubber and rubber-derived products.
The allergenic protein Hevb5 displayed notable chitinase activity and exerted strong antibacterial effects against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. Its antibacterial potency increased in the presence of zinc or calcium ions, suggesting that Hevb5 interacts with microbial membranes through metal ion–mediated cationic salt bridges, ultimately causing cell lysis and bacterial death.
